Letter I Description
Initial Performance Bond The funds required when a futures position (or a short options on futures position) is opened. (Previously referred to as Initial Margin).
Initial Margin Customers' funds required at the time a futures position is established, or an option is sold, to assure performance of the customer's obligations. Margin in commodities is not a down payment, as it is in securities.
Inside Day A trading day in which the current day's high and low are within the previous day's price range. Closes are not considered as important as the way prices move out of this narrowing range.
Intermediate or Secondary Trend A trend period lasting approximately three weeks to six months.
